Wall Decals UK  – When it comes to decorating interiors in the home or business, many people are inspired by graffiti and street artists like Banksy.

Banksy himself is shrouded in mystery, with much speculation about his identity. He has had to stay under the radar due to the fact that he doesn’t always get permission to do his work.

If you want to read a little deeper about who he may be, here is an interesting Daily Mail article where they look into his possible identity.

Many famous people including Brad Pitt and Christina Aguilera are known to be collectors of his work.

His most expensive work is known as “Bird With Grenade” which sold in 2011 for £145,250 at Christie’s in London. This particular piece of art started off life as a painted canvas, which Banksy then “defaced” with his own brand of stenciled spraypainting.

As you might expect, Banksy has produced artwork to mark the London Olympics.

The first one shows a pole vaulter seemingly jumping over a barbed wire fence, to land on an old mattress.

However, the more interesting one in my opinion is a highly political artwork depicting a javelin thrower getting ready to launch a missile.

The olympic message is one of spreading unity and peace. Messages that can be lost in our modern day world.

Banksy makes a strong statement, reminding people that the olympic message is being ignored.

We are in a climate where in early 2009 the Nobel peace prize was awarded to Barack Obama, who then in December that year increased troops by 40% from 68,000 to 100,000.

And more recently, the use of unmanned drones to kill people without charge or trial.

Yet again Banksy has produced some thought provoking and hard hitting artwork at a time when we need it most.
